RRIOTT Polocrosse

Premium Polocrosse Racquets Made By Polocrosse Players For Polocrosse Players

In the world of polocrosse, few racquets have become as distinctive and recognised amongst the worlds top players as ours. Handcrafted in a purpose built facility on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, every RRIOTT Polocrosse Racquet is the collaborative result of a highly skilled group of dedicated craftsman that, like you, love to play polocrosse.
At RRIOTT Polocrosse, we are committed to building racquets of exacting and unparalleled performance because as polocrosse players that's what we want to play with. We play polocrosse (and tinker with) our racquets as much as you do. The only difference is that when we want to change a product, we come to work. We are proud of our workmanship and build every racquet as though it were going to be our own. So whether you play with a plastic or graphite racquet or prefer conventional cane, you can be assured that you are investing in a racquet of unequalled quality, performance and workmanship.

Beginner Polocrosse Racquets

So you are keen to try polocrosse, "Fantastic!!" Its a great game and you will have a lot of fun. RRIOTT Polocrosse has been involved in supporting the development of new polocrosse players since its inception and brings this experience to the range of polocrosse racquets suitable for beginners.

If you are considering purchasing a polocrosse racquet to get you started in polocrosse here are couple of things you need to keep mind

1. What sort of polocrosse do you intend to play?, are you going to start playing competition polocrosse at polocrosse tournaments, or are you just looking for a racquet to play around with in the paddock? Typically if you are just starting out and only want to muck around with a polocrosse racquet for fun (not play competition polocrosse) we would recommend our yellow label range of development polocrosse racquets these offer exceptional value for money whilst ensuring the racquet is of a quality that does not cause you to learn bad techniques compensating for a inferior polocrosse racquet. If you are looking to play competition polocrosse we would steer you down the path of our red label polymer head racquets, these racquets are extremely tough and will take all the knocks you dish out as a learner player whilst being of a quality that will provide service for many years into the future.

2. What about Used or Second Hand Racquets?, At RRIOTT polocrosse we are often asked this question and it is the main reason we developed the Yellow Label range of beginner racquets. Understanding that people just wanting to have a throw around with a few friends do not want to spend the earth on a professional quality polocrosse racquet often consider used polocrosse racquets we felt compelled to solve this problem. Unfortunately almost all used racquets are being sold or handed down for a reason (maybe they are broken, to heavy, to hard to throw out of) regardless if these racquets were still any good they would still be being used by their original owners. The use of second hand racquets often leaves the user struggling to compensate for problems that a senior polocrosse player before them has not been able to master and as result develops actions in the players technique that may take years to eliminate. Or even worse not being able to master the racquet a beginner player in front of their peers may become embarrassed or so frustrated that they decide not to continue the game.

3. What about these cheap Indian or Pakistan made racquets? Whilst as a racquet manufacturer we try our best to show why our racquets are better than others on the market rather than put other makers goods down in this instance we do not consider these so called polocrosse racquets either real competitors or valid polocrosse racquets but simply opportunistic and unscrupulous traders looking for a quick buck without the consideration of either the racquet user or the sport in mind. These are one of our biggest concerns when dealing with beginners. By virtue of the fact they are just starting beginners do not have the relevant experience to identify the inherent problems with these cheap imitations. None of these racquets are made by anyone who knows anything about polocrosse and this is reflected in the quality of the product. The netting is simply a piece of net cut out to fit the racquet head as apposed to a polocrosse racquet net which is specifically designed to enable the racquet to throw. I have not to this day seen one of the racquets that even an experienced player can throw the ball from. The cane that is used in the racquets is of a quality that will not stand even the lightest of hits. In many cases the head of these racquets is distorted and is often oversize meaning they cannot be used in an actual game of polocrosse, and finally the grips on these cheap sticks are such that a child or lady cannot even hold them in their hands. Once again i stress that i do not like to run down competitor products but the continual frustration of seeing good people who are keen to try polocrosse being taken advantage of because of their inexperience makes me draw attention to these substandard attempts at polocrosse racquets.

4. My friend plays polocrosse and says i should get a special shape, style, type or brand of racquet as they are the best. We often have people who through there best intentions are keen to help others into the sport and recommend something similar to what they themselves are using, whilst for the most part this is more than sufficient sometimes it can be overkill where more money is spent than is needed for a racquet to play around with in the paddock. In addition it is important to recognize what is suitable for a experienced player may not be suitable for a beginner, for example beginners may not have the same wrist strength of an experienced player and hence a lighter racquet with a faster net setting will be far more suitable than a heavy racquet with a slow or deep net.
